CANTERBURY FARM LABOURERS' UNION.
A meeting of the General Executive of tho J? arm Labourers' Union was held on Saturday evening in tbo Trades Hall. Mr J. A. McCuhoch (presidont) was in tie chair, lhe secretary's report stated that two hundred and thirty new members had joined since the end of August, and that eight new branches had been formed, lhe report was received. Mr Millar's amendment to the Conciliation and Arbitration Act was discussed at length, and it was resolved to recommend to the branohfvs that tho following resolution be passed, and that a copy of it bo forwarded to the members of Parliament representing country eJector-at-es: —"That this Union protests against Mr Millar's Arbitration Act Amendment Bill on tho lines of the Canterbury Trades Council's manifesto; the Union particularly objects to the proposals to establish Industrial Councils, to compel non-unionists to contribute to Union funds, to proposals interfering with tho internnl management of unions as regards botli funds and officers." It was resolved to urge branches to communicate the following resolution to the members of Parliament for their districts:—'That his Union etrongly urges the Government to reduce the weight of grain carried in cornsneks from 2401b to 2001b." Mr M. Leing was appointed the South Canterbury organiser for another month. It was derived thnt Mr J. A. McCullongh should speak at Geraldine, Orari, Temuka. Timaru. WaiTate and other South Canterbury townships, and thit Mr J. Thorn should oddress meetings nt Tai Tapu. Hororata, Oxford, Cnst, Rangiora, Rakaia and other places.
