The Premier's, reply to the deputation of the Otago members as to the continuation of the Otngo Central railtray beyond Clyde ha* bt«cn received by the residents of Cromwell β-nd Upper Clutha Vellev with disgust and utter despair, nfter patiently waiting for a generation to have fulfilled the promise hold out to them when induced to trtke up tho land that the' railway would bo puehed on. The consequence is that already,people are selling their land, stock, and implements at an alarming sacrifice, and are leaving the district after thirty to forty years' lesidonce in it. Mr John Werner, of Lowhurn, has disposed of everything he possessed in land, etock, etc., ana le&ree on Friday for the Argentine. Tho methods by which the administrative work in connection -with the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand is carried on is tho cause of some dissatisfaction, and when opportunity offers ministers do not hesitate to strongly voice their opinions on the matter. During tho discussion of a grievance by the Presbyter? thii morning, Dr. Nisbet Mid: "7bw it only another argument in favour of having our church business centralised, and the work attended to by » properly established office. At present we fritter away in salaries to vsrioue officials sufficient money to easily cover the oo»t of each centralisation. The "boom" in bottl& is over for the prevent. A truce , Has been ar. ranged, and a committee eet up to draft an Agreement between the inter, ested parties.
