HILL-CLIMBING COMPETITIONS.

At a meeting last evening of the Managing Committee of tho hill climbing competitions to oe held on the Cashmere Hills under the auspices of the Christchureh Cycling and Motor Club on Thursday afternoon, October 31i?t, a letter was raid from the Canterbury Automobile Association granting iti patronage to the competitions. It was decided that cars of 10 h.p. and under should carry lull road equipment and two passengers including the driver, the minimum weight of the two passenger** to l>o 18 stone, whilst for tho cars over 10 h.p. four gcrs including tlie driver should be carried with a minimum weight of 3<3 stono, iv addition to full road equipment. The secretary reported the following prizes had been presented for the competitioner—Tho Dunlop Rubber Company, a set of tyres for the rider accomplishing tho fastest time iv the cycle competition; Me_srs Adnams, £1 Is; Messrs. Adams, Ltd., £1 Is; Messrs E. Reynolds and Company, trophy valued at £1 Is; Messrs Healing nnd Comiwny, trophy, valued at 10* Gd; Mr J. Grant, trophy valued at 10s Od. A letter was read from the Tramway Board elating that special provision would be mado for the traffic. It was decided that entries for tho cyclo, motor cycle, and motor car events should close on Saturday, October 2Gtb.
