The wife of a collier at Sleekburn, Northumberland,, became demented after a long illness and drowned her five children, and then committed suicide. ' ' RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS AND EMIGRATION. The president of the British Passenger Agents' Association oompiaine of religious organisations competing in the emigration business and shipping so-called whitewashed characters who oannot oompare with honest artisans and agriculturists whom the agents desire to ship. AUSTRALIAN WINE PROSECUTION. The Wine and Spirit Merchants' Association are prosecuting * Kensington tradesman for selling as Burgundy a. bottle of "Keystone" Burgundy, which was an Australian wine and' not the product of the district from which the French Burgundy- comes. Tho labels contained no reference to Australia. The proprietor! or the "Keystone" brand said it was proposed before the proseoution started to have a certificate from, the South Australian Government analyst printed on the labels. The case was adjourned.

THE DRUCE CLAIM

George Druoe, the claimant to the Portland estates, hee .obtained a summons against Herbert Druoe on a charge of perjury, in that he swore he raw Tfaomaa Charlee Druce, hie father, dead in a coffin in December, 1864. Counsel *aid a number of witnesses had deposed that they e»w Druce alive many years later. The summons is returnable in a fortnight.

THE BELGRADE TRAGEDY.

BELGRADE, October 13. M. J«rorio», ex-Perfect of Police of Belgrade, disclaims all responsibility for the murder of M. Navokovice and hi* companion in prison. He declares that M. Pretovitoh, Minister of the Interior; was present when both were killed.
