CANTERBURY ROWING ASSOCIATION.
The eixth annual meeting of the Canterbury Rowing Association was held last night, Mr J. It. Morrison presiding. The report stated that tho membeiship numbered 761, as against 727 last year. The receipts amounted to £42 14s (including jv balance of £21 12s Od brought forward), and the expenditure to £1G 12e Bd. leaving a credit of £26 Is 4d. Three regattas had been held under tho Association's auspices during the year, there being entries from -'25 crews for thirty races, tho prise-money amounting to £308. A eun-commit-too had been appointed to enquire into tho possibility of introducing a challenge" shield for en interprovincial four-oared competition. Regret wae expressed that tho N.Z.A.R.A. had ro duced tho Association's voting power from seven to fire. The indebtedness of the Association to Mr E. Cuthbert for his valuable assistance in bringing about in improved state of tho Avon wee acknowledged, and thanks wo.ro conveyed to tho Canterbury Rowing Club for tho uee of a room for meetings. "Ihe report and balance-sheet were adopted, on tho motion of the chairman mid Mr F. D. Kesteven, the excellence of the effcrte of tho eecretiry (Mr H. Herbert Smith) during tho year being duly acknowledged. Mr J. R. Morrison was re-elected chairmen, Mr N. L. Macbeth hon. auditor, and Mr H. H. Smith hon. secretary and treasurer. Tho programme of tho Christchureh regntta, to bo held at Lake Fonsy th on February 15th, was approved. Lengthy correspondence from the Association's delegate to tho N.Z.A.R.A. (Mr W. Coffey) on tho curtailment of tho Canterbury Association's voting power was considered. It wee resolved to write to the N.Z.A.R.A., suggesting that in view of the reduction of voting power, tho Association's subscription should be proportionately reduced. It -was also decided to thank Mr" Coffey for his splendid cervices in the matter. •
