SPRINGS.
The last meeting of the Springs Road Board ivne attended by Messrs Wolf ft (chairman). Ki'mbcr, Murray, ami Andrew. The Chairman reported having received one- tender for cleaning river, but being considered too high it was not accepted. The Chairman'h action was approved. The company insuring contractors' men against accidente -wrote stating that relatives were not included In the policy, and it ivae decided to inform contractors that no relatives would be allowed to work on the contract unless specially insured. It was decided to ask tho County Council to provide a bird-trap for use in the district. Various complaints vrero received of ftie nuisance caused by cattle grazing on the roads, and one ratepayer interviewed tho Board in reference to the same. !•• was decided to draw tho attention to the matter, asking him t« be more vigilant in tho discharge of his duties, and where necessary to prosecute offenders. Estimates of receipts and expenditure for current year were considered, and it was pointed out that a§ very few rates had been paid, the Board was working on an overdraft, and very littlo new work could be undertaken. .Aecounte tor £10-> 8s lid Mere passed.
