ROAD BOARDS.

The last meeting Of the Waipara Road Board was attended by Sir George Clifford (chairman), Meesr* A. Totld, J. Jonoe, and O. F. Clothier. The secretary of the Waikari Branch of the Farmers' Xhiion wrote suggesting that the Board ehould giro financial assistance towards the establishment of a chemical laboratory in the district. It was also suggested that the Board further cope with the email birds' nuisance by purchasing the ©ggs and heads of those peete. It wae decided to reply tliat the Board did not see its way to subscribe toward* the establishment of a laboratory, and"Was also of opinion that the purchasing'of the eggs and heads of small birds was not a suitable method to adopt for their destruction in a district so largo ac the ono under its control. ' Mr Pearson applied for a deviation of part of Wagners road/, leading from the \Veka Pass road to his property, and passing through a portion of Mr Crossley'e land. It was decided to offer no objection to the proposed deviation, provided Mr Pearson purchased the necessary land for the new road, and paid nil other expenses in connection with the matter. Mr F. Fox and Mr Baillie attended to ask that the Virginia road be completed to the Virginia Hut before shearing. They were informed that in all probability the road would be finished before that time. It was docided to ascertain the price of suitable sites for workmen's dwellings at Waipara and Hnwarden. Accounts were passed for £337 14s.
