MR KEIR HARDIE.
(press association* telegrams.) AUCKLAND, October 10. At a meeting of the Independent Political Labour League to-night, it was resolved to extend a hearty invitatioiii to Mr Keir Hardie to visit Auckland during his tour of New Zealand. Strong exception was taken by some of the speakers to the stringent criticism that had been passed on Mr Hardie in conmection with his speeches in India.
WELLINGTON, October 10. At the meeting of the City Council to-night, the Mayor was asked if ihe intended to give Mr Keir Hardio a public reception. His Worship replied in the affirmative, and stated that ho did not personally accept as absolutely accurate the oabled reports of Mr Keir Hardies utterances in India. The Mayor's attitude was supported by tho Council.
