PRESERVATION OF INFANT LIFE.
CANTERBURY SOCIETY
The weekly meeting of the committee of tho Canterbury tioctety for the Preservation of Infantt?Life wae held on Monday last in the St. John. Ambulance Association's roorak, Manchester street. Present—Dr. Alice Moorhouae (in tho chair), Mesdames F. H. Pyne (hon. secretary), Leonard Clark (hon. treasurer), W. W. Morton, Balfour Crawford, John Deans, F. Hallenetein, \V. F. Hilson, John Mackenzie, Thos Maude. Frederick Pratt, A. Sandstein, Cracroft Wilson, and Wilson, Miss Inglis (St. Helens) and Miss L. E. Cook (assistant hon. secretary). Mrs G«orgo Rhodes (Meadowbank) wa-s elected to the committee.
It was stated that Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes had offered to provide a band to play at tho forthcoming garden party, to bo held by kind permission of Mr It. Hcaton Rhodes, M.H.R., at "Elmwond" on Thursday, the 24th instant. Reports were received from the sub-committees as to the progress of the arrangements for this fete, and further oScrs of assistance towards tho entertainment of tho guests wore announced.
