WAIMATE.
A meeting undor the auspices of tho Farm Labourers' Union was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Saturday night. Mr A. Walker was voted to the chair. There was a good attendance. Mr H. G. Ell. M.H.R., addressed the mooting. Ho ar*oloa;i'-:od for the absence of tho Hon. "J. Barr, M.L.C.. -who was unable to carry out his intention of being preeent. Mr Ei\ 6poko of the necessity of farm labourers following in the footsteps of other sections of the community, and forming 3 union. Mr Kennedy, organiser of the Farm Labourers' Union. _]-*>•» addressed the meeting. Votes of thanks wero passed to Mr Ell and tho chairman. About forty remained behind aft or the meeting, and business connected with tho formation of a Wainiate branch was transected.
