ELLESMERE LAND DRAINAGE BOARD.

The last meeting of the EHcsmoro Land Drainage Board was attended by Messrs Raijiey, Pnnnett, Noil Osborno and Mangles. Mr Pannett wae votc-1 to take the chair at this mooting, in the unavoidable absence of tho chairman (Mr R. Heaton Rhodes). The secretary reported that ho accompanied the Enp;inoer-in-Chi<'f and District Engineer to the lake outfall, and that a report on tho feasibility of permanently draining the lake, according to their would, no doubt, soon bo forthcoming. Messrs • Harper and Company wrote regarding payment to tho Uwinty Council liabilities on oiitfall work, etc. It was resolved that in reference to the credit in the hands of the Council on loan, the l.sotwcil be asked to allow the board intero.st on this sum. In reference to the application of the Springs Road Hoard, it tvji.s resolved that the Board cannot f»oo its way to p.tsumo control of tho part of 1,2 river askfd for at present It w.is resolved that the Board take the necessary steps as soon as practicable, to apply to the ratepayers for their consent* to borrow £10.000. ;'■> provided for in tho Eilesniere Land Draina.ee Act, 1900.
