THE HON. J. A. TOLE.
The Hon. J. A. Tolo, 8.A., LL.i>., who was .Minister for Justico in tho Stoiit-Vogol Government from 188-1 to 1887, ia tho son of Air J. A. Tole, and was born in Yorkshire, but when quite a young lad came with his parents to Auckland. Thero he received his primary education. His University training was obtained at St. John's Collego Sydney, New South Wales. He graduated B.A. in 1868, and entered tho employ of one of tho most brilliant men of tho Australian bar, tho late Hon. Edward Butler, Q.C., who was several times Attorney-Genera] of Now South Wales. Mr Tolo was admitted to tho Bar in 1871. Later ho obtained his liL.B. degree, and he waa admitted to tho practice of his profession in New Zealand in 1872. Air Tole has been a member of tlie House of Representatives, and is actively identified with the administration of pulblio affairs in Auckland.
