At the Steunenberg murder trial at Boise City, Idaho, Orchard testified that at Haywood's instance he and Steve Adams wrecked the Providence Railway Station in order to prevent a split in tho Miners' Convention byproviding counter excitement. Twelve or 14 people were killed by that explosion. Later ho asked Haywood for 300 dollars, and Haywood sent 300 through Pettibone, while Adams received -00. Orchard narrated how the murder of a detective was planned by Pettibone, who paid him £100. Moyer aud Haywood paid for the fatal mine wrecking, and, with Pettibone, paid for the" killing of Steunenberg. They also paid for fruitless endeavours to kill the Public Prosecutor, for the thwarting of the \\ ©stern Miners' Federation's plans. A cable messago on May 10th said : — Thero is widespread interest throughout America in tbe trial et Boise City, Ididio, of Tom Moyer, president, and William Haywood, secretary of the Miners' Federation, on a charge of murdering ex-Governor Steunenberg. Boise is hlled with troops. Harry Orchard confessed that he was promised 3000 dollars if ho killed Steunenberg. Ho tied a bomb to Steunenberg_ gate, end it exploded with fatal results. He planned twenty-six murders for the inner circle of th© \\ e_tern Federation of Miners.
