Mr V. G. Day, S.M., presided at tho Polio© Court on Tuesday. Peter Thompson, with one previous conviction against him, was fined 10s or 48 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness. Ihomus 801 l and William Casper, each with two previous convictions against them, wero fined 40s or «>ven days' imprisonment. Albert Taybor, charged with deserting from H.AI.S. Powerful, wa-s remanded, on tho application of Sub-In-spector Dwyer, until tho 12th inst. Alfred Ernest .Rainbow, for whom Mr Hunt appeared, sought to have an order of maintenance against hirai for tho support of a child in a Government home cancelled. Mr Stringer opposed tho motion. After hearing evidence his Worship refused to cancel the order. Arthur Sweeney was ordered to pay two shillings a week towards the support of a daughter in the Tauranga Home. Edward Lysaght .(Mr Beatty) was ordered to pay 7e Gd a week towards tlie support of his wife in an institution. William Miller (Mr Hunt) was ordered to pay 10s a week towards the support of nis wife. On the suggestion of tho Magistrate defendant agreed to havo a prohibition order issued against him. Messrs W. H. Hargncaves and J. Murray, J.P.s, presided at the Polioo Court yesterday. A first offender within tho statutory period was fined 6s or 24 hours. Another first offender was fined 5s and cab fare Is Gd. Benjamin Cook, with •three previous convictions within five days, said he had work to go to. The Bench eaid it did not wish to send accused to gaol. It would convict him and order him to take out a prohibition order. If ho appeared before tho Court again he would bo sent to prison for three months. He was ordered to pay 4s expenses. A.n old age pensioner, changed with being found drunk and smashing a cab window, was remanded until today. Elizabeth Ohlsen, a prohibited person, pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, and was convicted and discharged
