NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.

The first meeting of the newly-elected Board pt the New Zealand Trotting Association wae held yosterday. Presenfr-Messra P. Selig, T. Marr, A. L. Myers, >W. G. Garrard, E. Clarkson, W. Hayward and C. 8. Howell. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs C. F. Mark and J. H. Pollock. On the motion of Mr Clarkson, seconded by Mr Haywaxd, Mr Selig wm unanimously reelected President of the Association. In returning thanks, Mr Selig said that ha felt grateful for the manner in which th* mover and seconder had proposed bit reelection. It would be hie endeavour, aa it had been in the pact, to dispense even-handed justice, and to do his best in the interests of the ■port.

The election of the other officers resulted:— Vioe-president. Mr A. _.: Myers; ion. treasurer, Mr T. Marr; . licensing committee, Messrs A. L. Myers and W. G. Garrard; foreign horse committee, Messrs W. Hayward and W. G. Garrard; examiner of foreign horses, Mr W. G. Garrard; appeal committee. Messrs P. Selig and T. Marr; provident fund trustees, Messrs P. Selig, A. L. Myers, and C. S. Howell; auditor, Mr C. J. Marshall. A letter was received from Mrs D. McLean thanking the Association for the expression of sympathy on tha death of her fate husband.

Mr "J. Lewis" wrote in reference to the decision of the Association the* his appeal against the fine of £2 imposed for his.failure to notify the re-sals of the mars Wild Wind, was not in order, and could not be entertained. The Association had not given tbe reason why ths appeal was not in order,,and ho still was of opinion, that as ths Conference framed the Rules of Trotting, which were published by the New Zealand Trotting Association, he had the right, to appeal to the Conference. He did not intend to pay the fine of £2, as a protest against the Board's decision.

After a brief discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Mr Garrard, seconded by Mr Hayward, to inform "Mr Lewis"; that onless ths amount was paid within seven days his name would be placed on the Forfeit List. The South Canterbury Jockey Club wrote asking the Association to appoint an .ad* visory steward to supervise tbe trotting events: at its-Spring Meeting in November next. -. The request was acceded to, the individual appointment being held over. ■ A letter was received from ■ the Wanaka, Jockey Club renewing its application for ths removal of disqualifications incurred by persons and horses, taking part in' an unregistered meeting on March 14th last. The reqttest was acceded to, aad si] disqualifications were removed. C. C. Hawthorne wrote asking why his disqualification had not been removed, and it was decided to refer thee letter to the Waimats Plains Trotting Club. Several programmes, in addition to those passed by the executive, were approved, Licenses as recommended by the Licensing Committee were granted, that of R. J. .Sharps being issued with a caution. Otheri spplications wars' held over.

The secretary's salary was increased by 450 per annum,,as from August Ist, aad that of the secretary's assistant by £13 per annum.
