A BARGAIN SUGGESTED.
(Received September sth, 9.21 p.m.) LONDON, September 5. "The Times," in a financial article, says the Government is being criticised for relinquishing a claim which was reasonable and which the Transvaal expected to meet some day. Tory opinion in the city suspects the existence of a discreditable bargain, the Government bidding with the magnates so as to induce them not to make a fues over the lots of Chinese labour, saying "We will let you off those thirty millions."
