OBITUARY.

The death is announced of Mr A. A. Hood, for twenty-three years an officer in the Railway Department. Bern in Marlborough "in 1869, he joined the service in 1884. He was, at the time of his death, in charge of the Glenavy station, having been in that position since 1902. He was for some years stationed at Coalgate, North Canterbury, where he was known as an obliging and efficient officer. His cariy death ia sincerely regretted by many friends in all parte of Canterbury and Wcstlard.
