LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The third round for the local championship was played off at Shirley cm {Saturday, keen interest being taken, and some good play shown. Following are the results:— H. H. Loughnan boat A. M. Borthwick, 1 up; H. B. Lusk beat W. T. D. Harnian, 4 up; 8. K. Sleigh beat H. P. Wynn, 5 up; J. 0. Jameson beet B. Wilder, 4 up. Tho semi-finals will be played during this week, and tive final on Saturday. Competitors remaining in for the Denniston Cup are:—S. K. Sleigh, J. W. H. Wooa. and K. M. Ollivier. That the New Zealand Championship if. drawing near is evidenced by tlie fact tliat already foreign competitors are arriving to get used to the links. In. the match between the Asbburton and l Christchurch Golf Clubs, played on tho Ashburton linlcs. the visitors won on. games by 7 to 4, while AshbuTtoai »yon the greatest number of holes.
