I The Hon. 0. H. Mills, Minister for ■ Customs, was booked to leave Wellington for Lyttelton by the Tarawera last night. Smith, of Christchurch, obtained first-class honoura in both systematic on atomy and in surgery, and fi;cond-cla<?s honoura in physiology and in practical ainatomy. She was awarded the iecond prize in junior surgery. Her brother, M r T. C. Smith, aisj passed the first professional examination. Both were students of Canterbury Coiiego, and M ss Smith was twelve months at the Otago University. Ml s Alma Wells, second daughter of Mr H. Wells, Iwa_p.ssed her final examination at the Leipsic Conservatorium. Miss Wells played Mendelssoha's G Miuior Pianoforte Concerto, and obtained mot favourable criticism. Mr Luke Ccleman, of Marshlands, who Is leaving this week for a trip to England, was on Monday night•ente.rtai ed by his friends and neighbours, and presented with a rug and a- watch and chain. At Ashburton on Monday night an illuminated address was presented to Mr John Bell, who, after a residence of thirty years in Ashburton County, has bought a farm at Flaxbourne. At a re-union of the members of |he Ra gicra iPire Brigade, the Major presented Mrs Smith, wife of Superintendent J. Smith, with, a gold-mounted greenstone brooch,* in appreciation oi the assistance she had given to the brigade. Mr W. Gray, secretary of the Post Office, writing from Venice to a friend Ln Wellington, says he is quite restored to health. Mr R. R.
