j Wo recent ly quoted a decision of tho Recorder of Shrewsbury to the effect that a man could not be convicted of stealing lead which was attached to a houso because, "in th© eye of the law," the lead had become part of the freehold, and the freehold could not be stolen. It now turns out that tho Recorder was wrong. A lawyer points out in London "Truth" that the law expressly provides that any one stealing lead or any other metal fixed in or to any building, or anything made of metal fixed m any land, shall be guilty of felony, and liable on conviction to punishment as for simple laroeny.
