ASHBURTON MARKET REPORT.

Farmers at Ashburton are now busy threshing out of .stack, and in the majority of oriisr-s the grain is coming in in exceptionally fine condition. Some few, however, although they have left the grain in stack for five or six weeks, aro still delivering grain badly out of condition, showing that the wheat this year contain-; an unusual amormt of moisture. Millers have been active buyers, while merchants aliso have purchased froelv, with the consequence that prices have risen fully ono paiuiy per bushel, yesterday's quotations being:—Tuscan 3s to 3s Id, velvet 2s lid to 3s, Hunter's 2s lfkl to 2s lid.

Merchants are beginning to real is? the largo quantity that is being shippeel out of the district, and are more inclined to buy. Prices are much firmer, a slight rise of a halfpenny to ono penny per bushel being recorded. Several good lines of new bright oatsheaf chaff have been out and delivered, realising 52s per ton.

The New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., helel their first grain .«alo of the season at thoir Dur- ! ham etreet warehouses at 2.30 p.m. ' yesterday. Thero was a gocd attendance of buyers and bidding was fairly brisk throughout. Tho catalogue comI prised about 900 sacks, which wero all ' quitted with the exception of three lots. Whole fowl wheat sold from 2s 10Jd to 3s lid, seconds 2s 2d to 2s lid. Canadian oats Is lid. Gartons, e/c, Is 8d to 2s 2d, Duns Is 9d to Is lid, ] Danish Is 4d to Is lOd.

Messrs "Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., havo sold, on account of Mr John Wither, the Sunny-ide Station, situated upon Lake -Vnkatipu, the buyer being Mr H. D. Wore, of Orari Gorge, Canterbury. Sunnysido consists of about 800 acres of freehold, the bulk of which has.been cultivated, and leasehold land amounting to about 30,000 acres.: 10,000 merino fheep ore given in with the place.
