MEALS ON THE DINING CAR.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—A few days ago aJe fetor appeared in your columns from a correspondent oomphintt'ng of the meals provided on the trains running between Christchureh and Dunedin. My experience has been tho vory opposite to that of tho writer. During the last few w«c-_b I have been over the lino a couple cf times with my wife, and wo were very pleasantly surprised at the great improvement that had taken place sinoo the Government had undertaken the catering. The meal that was provided was, we thought, under the circumstances, in every way excellent. This was so in rerapect -to tho serving, cooking, and the varied nature and excellent quality of the faro provided. As to tho Government making a profit, considering tho expenses involved, and tho necessarily limited nature of the demand, I 'think that the charge- of 2s is cortam'y most rear-on able.—Yours, etc ANOTHER 1-RAVELLER
