REFUGEES RETURNING,
RO3IE, April 14. At King Edward's instance the cruiser Leviathan has been sent to Naples as a token of sympathy with tlie sufferers. [The town of Torre del Greco which, according to a cable message on Saturday had to be abandoned, is a place with over 30,000 inhabitants, on the coast. Vesuvius hsis deali it several blows. Two-thirds of the older town n-oi? destroyed by one of tho lava streams of IG3I, on which the town now stands, the lava streams of 1737 and 1764 also caused great damage, and the earthquake of 1857 and the eruption of 1861 proved still more destructive. These disasters never sooni to have deterred tiio inhabitants from rebuilding their dwellings. San Gennaro, where numerous fatalities are said to have occurred, is a Qapucin monastery in the outskirts of Naples. Sarno, which has been buried in ashes, is a place of 19,192 inhabitants, near Pompeii.]
