PIGEON SHOOTING.

The Papanui Gun Club shot off a £50 handicap on Saturday, in the presence of a good number cf spectators. Pepper (23yds). and '"Mayflem (21yds) each brought- down 10 birds, end d-.vjdod the balance oi £10, taking £2 10s each. J. Giier and J. Pepper divided the star money. Tiip latter also took the President's trophy offered for competition to tho members of tho chib. Popj/or and Grier tied, but tlie latter having to leave to catch a train forfeited his c.aim. Three sweepstakes, one of 30s and two of 10s each, first m;ss out. were also decided. In the 20s sweep O.'Hunter (Coyds), J. M. Dtan (27yds), and J. Gardiner c26yds) each kiiied 5 birds and divided the money. Uhe firrt 10s sweep was divided by J. Dolin-? (Clydf) ai:d P. Watson (i3yds) with 4 kills each, and tho second was divided by S.
