The followine officers were elected for tho nest twelro mottths:—President, Mr Justice Denniston; vice-presidents,' Messrs T. P Cbndell, G. Harris, and A. E. G. Jthodes; captain, Mr H. H. Loughnan ; 'committee, Memie J. O. Janweon, W. T D Harman, F. H. Harley, J. C. W iland W. J. Poison ;Mr J F Mile*, secretary and treasurer. Jlr J. 1. Poulton, ex-treasurer of tlie club, who has left Chriwtchurch, was elected to life membership of the club in recognition of hie services. Votes of thanks were - 'pafxod to varipue officers. At tho quarterly meeting of Loyal Perseverance Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., held at Woolfiton, N.Q. Bro. Aylward and there was a full attendenoe of offioere. Accounts to the amount of £36 sft 5d were pawved for payment- Tho treasurer laid the bank book on the table, showing a credit balance of £292 17fi. P.G. Bro. Lilly was presented with a past grand's framed emblem. The first general meeting of snbscrihers of the nowly-ercctod hall and library at Harewood "was hold on Thursday night. There was a largo number .of subscribens present. The building committee reported that the total cost of the hall, land, fencing, and furniture •'' was £440 7s, and the total amount received in subscriptions, proceeds of entortainmente, etc., £388 19s, leaving a debit balance of £61 Bs. Messrs C. J. Stanley, R. A. Pearsei, and A. Buckksy were elected trustees, tho following a oomtnitteo of management, Messrs R. A. Pears (chairman), C. J. Stanley, A. -Hockey, A. Buckley, J. Burrows, G. F. Stanley, and Simon McDonald (secretary). The annnal meeting of the Oddfellows . jq[ tho Ashburton district was held in the Aehburton Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday afternoon, the Grand Master, I3ro. Jas. Nicholas, presiding. There was a good attendance. The Grand Master congratulated the delegates on tho substantial progress their lodges had made during his term of office. The following officers wore elected for the ensuing year:—Prov. Grand Maeter, Bro. J. Swanson; Deputy Grand Master, Bro. Jae. Tnimper, Mcthven; treasurer, Hro. C. Reid (re-elected); book examiners, Bros. F. Watt and F. Pritohard; auditors, Bros. F. Watt, C. Camp-* bell, amd J. Campbell; relieving officer, P.G.M. Bro. T. Norgan (re-elected); delegates for the bi-annual M.C., to bo held at Nelson, P.P.G.M., Bro. Jas. Nicholas; delegate to the United Friendly Society Conference, to be held at Wollingtan, Pro. C. Secretary Bro. A. C. Hardy. It was unanimously resolved that a suitable presentation be made by tho district to tho retiring G.M.,. Bro. Jas. ■ Nicholas, to mark the "appreciation of his ability and zeal during his term of office.
