Cooper and Young, of Smithfield, were prosecuted on eleven charges of falsely describing butter, including the Queensland case, cabled on November 23rd. Tho hearing was adjourned till December 6th. [The cablegram referred to above said that the Lancashire County Council was prosecuting a firm at Preston respecting a box of so-called Queensland butter, bearing the Government stamp, which was found to contain an adulterated mixture largely composed of cocpanut cii. Tho Agents-Gen;.-nil were assisting in the prosecution, and had traced tho butter to a manufactory in London. It was Ix'licved that other Governmentgraded butter had also been tampered, with.] A RUSSIAN CRUISER'S OUTRAGE. It has been a-xortained that the Russian cruiser Lena last year captured th«- sealing schooner Diana, imprisoning the crew in Siberia. Captain Thompson was manacled by chains on his legs and body.
