„ -» Tho Right Hon. tho Premier arrived at Dunedin last evening, and leaves this morning to turn the first sod of tho Lawrence-Roxburgh railway. Mr F. A. Powell, Mr C. H. Shirley (San Francisoo), Mr C. C. Mordaunt (Melbourne), Miss McDonnell (Napier), Mr A. B. MofTett, Miss Nolan (Dunedin), and Mr and Mrs Roylo (Timaru), arrived in town yesterday. A presentation was made on Wednesday night by the employees of the Chriatchurch Tramway Beard to Mr J. F. Hartland, who is leaving Christchurch to take up the position of secretary to the Auckland Racing Club. Tho presentation, which consisted 0/ a gold chain aud pendant, suitably inscribed, was presented by Mr Wood, traffic superintendent/ Visitors at the " Lodge," Hanmer, include:—Mi' and Mrs Wynn-Williams (Christchurch), Mr, Mrs and Miss Mullock (Christchurch), Mr J. Reid (Dunedin), Mrs Webb, Mrs Cotton (Christchurch), Mrs Alwright (Lyttelton), Mrs Smith, Miss Bamicott (Ghri?tchurch), Mr and Mrs D. McFarlane, family, and maid (Lyndon), Mrs and Miss Thacker (Okains Bay), Mr and Miss Connoll (Christchuroh), Misses Thompson (2), (Christchurch), Mr Griffiths, Mr Davidson, Mr Daily, Mr Delamaine (Christchurch), Mrs Livingstone (Dunedin). Miss McDonald (Scotland), Dr. Littlo (Culverden), Mr Johnstone (Dunsandel), Mr Cooke, senr., and son (Dunedin), Mr McLauchlan (Blenheim), Mr Suckling (Christchurch), Miss Way (Christchurch), Miss Russell. At Ashburton on Tuesday afternoon, at Me-srs Andrew Orr and Co.'s establishment.
