MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. A .STOLEN , GUJJ. Meredith McCansland admitted a charge of having stolen a gun, valued at £5, belonging to William Parker. Detective. Chiystal explained that tho accused had hired the gun on condition that he paid 2s (id weekly for it. He had taken delivery of the gun, paid nothing far it, and sold it to a secondhand dealer. The accused had been convicted previously. The Magistrate, sentenced the accused to three months' imprisonment. NATIVES AND LIQUOR. Walter Halliday, licensee of tho Wellington Hotel, was charged with having, on May 3rd, nt Christchurch, allowed liquor to be supplied to Henr Solomon, a female aboriginal native, who was not the wife of a European. On the application cf Sub-Inspector Dwyer, the case was adjourned for a week. DIII'XKENNESS. Two first- offenders were convicted and discharged, and a third fined os. ] MAINTENANCE. Charles Benjamin Bailey (Mr Hoban) was ordered :o pny 20s weekly towards tho support of his wife. Mr Cassidy nppeared for tho complainant. Willinni Brown was sentenced to one month's imprisonment lor disobeying a maintenancy order. John Landory (Mr Donnelly) was directed to contribute !•"« weekly towards the support of his wife. Mr West on appeared for t h<? complainant. Amiinma iy separation order was granted against Henry Firth, who was oi'dered to pay £1 0s towards tho suppert of his wif« and children. Mr Kippi'iibergor appeared for the complainant, and Mr Bcattie for the defendant.
