CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION. The Rugby Union Committee met last night, when Mr G. H. Mason presided. The secretary of the South Canterbury Union wroto, stating that that body could not see their way to; allow the Ashburton Sub-Union' to affiliate with the North Canterbury Union, as they considered that the conditions of tho South Canterbury Union were as favourable as those of the North Canterbury body. The South Canterbury Union had no desire to cause any friction, and would like to have the matter settled as quietly as possible. The secretary (Mr W. G. The chairman reported what had happened at tho annual meeting of the New Zealand Union at Wellington, and stated that the delegates of the North Canterbury Union had agreed to tho proposal of the New Zealand Union that the North v South Island match should, for financial reasons be played this year at Wellington instead of at Christchurch. The action of the delegates was approved of. Tho committee of the Sydenham Football Club met on Monday evening, .when it was decided to hold a musical evening in the clubrooms on Friday, the 19th hist., at which a presentation will bu made to the secretary in accordance, with a resolution passed at the annual meeting. At the request of the patron and president of the club, it was also decided to hold the annual churcfa parade on Sunday, 21st insfc. '". The annual meeting of the Southbridge Football Club was held last Saturday evening, when there was a good attendance, and Mr Geo. Hubbard occupied the chair.
