TO THE EDITOR OP THE PHESS. Sir,—ln your issue or to-day appears a paragraph to the effect that the Mayor, at the last meeting of the Council, thanked the Council .for the very able manner i which they had carried out their duties. lam told the general all-round complimentthrowing was very cftective. In the face of all this self-!audation, there is the fact that no less than n-ne new candidates are nominated for the ensuing election; if the ratepayers were as satisfied with the Mayor and Councillors as they are with themselves and their works, would there be this desire for a changer* I should -say not; the fact of the matter is the Council has not the confidence of the ratepayers.—Yours, etc..
