THE LINWOOD WARD.
TO TUT. EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—ln your issue of ThursdnyJ last two letters appeared on the above subject. The first is sigi.ed by Mr T. N. Horsley one of the tindidntes. to represent Linwood in the City Council. In it Mr jH. develops a Burning desire to benefit cyclists, motor-car and automobile peoplo, because as he ingenuously observes, there are so many of them. Many also aro ratepayers, and have a vote. But this- latter consideration does not enter into Mr H.s purview. Certainly not! The other scribe is Mr John Jamieson. He, indeed, is" almost the alter ego of Mr Horsley, and takes the latter under his ample wings. Mr J. J. founds a claim to be Linwood's dictator or" councillor-maker, on the fact that he—J.J.—-was once a Councillor him elf. for—mirab-le dictu —no less a term than five years. Also he enlarges on Mr Horsley'e tarry" reputation, and orders the ratepayers to vote for Messrs Otley (another candidate) and Mr Hor*ley. Perhaps this edict of the pretentious Mr J. will be obeyed, perhaps laughed at. What has poor Mr Young (a candidate) dona? Mr Young was also a Councillor for some years. It may be that he will bo a Councillor again, in spite of the Jamieson-cum-Otley-cum-Horsley organisation. At all events, Mr Young will get a "Vote from. —Yours, etc., BLUE GOWN. April 22.
