Bidding was very spirited, and from a start of £25 an acre it quickly reached to £30 an acre, at which price Mr T. White became the purchaser. Mr D. TKbmtis, in conjunction with Mr F. Ferriman, offered at BullocVe Arcade, on account of Mr A. Harvey, a farm of 43 acres, with dvreling-houso and outbuildings, situated cloee to the Mount Somers township. The bidding started at £15 an acre, and the property was jxisised in at £16 10s, but coon afterwords it wns sold privately to Mr C. Beckley. A tliree-quarter acre eection, with blacksmith's shop, situated at Hinds, wae offered, on account of Mr J. W. 8. Moßowell, and passed in at £210. A quarter-acre section, witli sixroomed dwelling-house, offered on account of Mr R. J. Winthorpe, and situated in Peter street, Ashburton, was passed in at £310.
