Girton Gul did a similar journey, and ran the last five furlongs in lmin lOeec. Avalanche galloped well whilst doing a mile in lmin S7sec. Dunrnoro and The Middy got over four furlongs in '54»ec. Newton and Lady Hune, from a standing start, ran a mile and a quarter in 2min 37isec. finishing together. Rambler, assisted by Grouchy and Darkness, covered a mile in lmin 63$eec. The Guinea* candidate finished much better than on Thursday. King Paul ran six furlongs in lmin 23*ec. and Woodmount went five furlongs, the last four of which took him 59sec. Lycia spurted four furlongs in 58»cc. Yolette easily held Noteorine at the end of seven furlongs in lmin BSsec. Bother sprinted four'furlongs, the last two ia 26iseo. Jdaroon end Gold, Hakaria, Peter Simple, and Lavade jumped tho small hurdles, shaping well. Lurcher, Matatutua, and Alozort jumped the big hurdles proficiently. Mangamahaki, Tip, and Wiid Rose went round the- steeplechase course over the Jiill, jumping well. Maop jumped the big fences in the centre of the course. A number of others were out. General Average has been an absentee since Tvcßoay. Hinetaura. and Whakaweha arrived froni Napier on Thursday. The hurdles were up on the outside of the courso proper this aiternoon, and some interesting, schooling work was witnessed!. Wellcast. Piinceee of Thule,, and Andy Regan ran a mile and & half over the battens in 3min 13sec. Wellcast finished ten lengths in front of Princess of Thirle, Andy Regan falling tit the last fence-. With the exception of a faulty jump at the last obstacle Wellcast gave a good display, and may turn out useful over tho small sticks. Irish and Hinau went * similar journey in 3min 12eec, Irish easily defeating hia companion. Up-to-Date, Peter Simple, and Ngarua were cent a round of the steeplechase country, going over the hill. The trio all jumped faultlessly. UptoDato finished the strongest, and is likely to run well in the steeplechases at the forthcoming meeting.
