THE UNEMPLOYED.

TO TOE EDITOR OF THE TRESS. Sir,—ln "The Presa" of October 14th Mr Dudley Dobson states that the men applying for work on the Council are not of a suitable class for municipal work. I cannot tell what- sort of men the surveyor wants. If a man. can carry bricka, do harvesting, and do gorse grubbing work, surely some of these ought to Buit the Council. lam one of these, and applied for work with others, and was told therewas no men to be put on the Council this season. What does Mr Dobson mean by men being not fit for the work if they don't want men? There are men on tho Council who could not earn a living elsewhere, being tow old, also men who idle tlieir time away,, stopping people on the roads to talk with, to fill in the day. They ought to make room for other owe.—Yours, etc., UNEMPLOYED.
