THE CATHEDRAL.

THE CONSECRATION SERVICE. The. Cathedral Chapter met on Wednesday last and addressed itself to the difficult task of allotting cards of admission to the Consecration Service on tho morning of Tuesday, Ist November (All Samite' Day). The applications from subscribers ■were reported on by the Executive of the Completion Committee, and it wae found that 750 cards' wotuu ba required in order to grant one only to each subscriber applying. The balance of about 1250 scats was th»i appropriated, the claims of lay Synodstnen, Church officers, Cathedral eidesmen, regular attendants at the Cathedral aa far as their names were known, clergy, wives, and •widows, and others iiaving a distinct claim to consideration, being met aa far as the limits of the space permitted. It was found to bo simply impossible to meet the case of all who might be supposed to have a right to be considered on such on. occasion, and the Chapter had to be content with an honest endeavour to meet the 'strongest and most imperative claims. At only the Consecration service, however, will the admission be by card; at all the other services of the Octave the Cathedral will be free and open to all who con find room, with due precautiohs against, overcrowding. It was decided to have the cards marked, showing the particular door at which admission will be given to ite. owner, da order to prevent undue pressure at any one entrance. The cards will probably Oβ sent put within a week from the present time. All holders of them must be in their places by 10.45 on the morning of the consecration.
