All others who intended to stand in that interest have agreed to rtand dowjr, so as to give Mr_ Buiek the undivided Liberal vole. Mr Frank E. Perry, slicep farmer, ajid an old resident of tho Pahiatua district, announces himself as a candidate for the Paluatua scat in the Opposition- interest. (sraciAL to "the teess.") WELLINGTON, July 13, There is likely to be a good deal of vote splitting at tho Pahiatua election. Even the temperance vote is likely to be pplit, Mr Buiek and Mr Hawkins (the latter ait opponent of the Government) being both pronounced prohibitionists. Tlie selection of Mr Buiek ns the officially favoured Government candidate, is, in fact, understood to bo an astute move to frplit the temperance vote, which was likely to go en bloc to Mr Hawkins, a candidate who is looked upon as a likely winner.
