The Government has not yet arrived at any definite decision with regard to the International Exhibition, which it is suggested should he held next year at Christchurch: Sir Joseph Ward has informed the local Industrial Association that the matter will be considered at an early datt-i A deputation of butchers has'interviewed the Minister of Agriculture with regard to tlw decision of .tho City Council not to establish abattoirs. Tho Minister stated, in reply, that, thb prm'nt condition of things could not' bo permitted to continue, and tlw matter would b© considered by Cabinet, which is interpreted to imnn that the Government proposes to re-enact the clause as to slaughtering and inj<pecticn, and compel jnunicipalitiea to establish public abattoirs.
