The attendance was muca better than on the hrst day. The course was greatly improved end the times, consequently, were iast> The tolalisator investments for the day amounted to £11,323 ss, of which £105t went through the 5s machine. Good Intsnt and Bagpipes made the pace a cracker, Dexterity, Cyrus, and Jewellery heading a packed bunch close behind, with Martian three lengths further back. Good Intent continued her lead for seven furlongs, when she was joined by Dexterity and Fleka. Martian then began to move up, but wa* apparently blocked at the turn by those in front, and Hewitt seemed to delay his run till well into the straight. Inside the distance Fleka held » lead of a couple of lengths. Martian then came strongly, but suffered defeat by a length; Cyrus, half a length away, was third, • neck in front of Melodeon. Vladimir had the. beat of the send-off by a couple of length*, Exmoor and Good Intent being his nearest attendant*. The trio raced in this order to the bend, the field straggling out. Kremlin and Black Reynard ran up to th* leader* at the distance post. Exmoor then made his effort, but failed to reach * V_di_ir, who won easily by two lengths. Exmoor beating Black Raynird. who ram* •trough- at the finish, by a length. Kremlin waa half a length away fourth, Good Intent fifth, -Ballarat sixth, and Petrovna seventh. Time, lmin 28 2-sth ace. Racing across the bottom stretch Whakikihi was in the lead, and had a slight advantage of Leo Deiaval as they turned for homo. In the run to the post Leo Deiaval took charge, and stalling off a challenge by Woodfield and Tahae won, all out, by a length. Aka Aka was on terms again with Mocassin at the hurdle in the straight, and passing tho stand had a length's advantage of Mocassin, with Hippowa* the same distance away third. Aka Aka still had his advantage as they jumped the hurdle at tlie Bi_ furlong post, where Mocassin made a forward move, and ab tho hurdle at the four furlong post was on, terms. Mocassin wus with Aka Aka as they turned for home, and going on won easily by four lengths, with Kanaka thirty lengths •way third. Mars pulling up and walking in. Time. 3min 51 4-sth sec. Idasa was first into the straight, and led to the distance, where she was headed by Durable, who won by three parts of a length from Miss Lottie, who was two longtbs in front of Idasa. Tho racehorses Bnlawayo and Rawiri arrived from Wellington by the Rotomahana on Saturday morning. * At a committee - meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, held on Friday, it was decided that in the event of a,' match for not less' than 1000 soys being arranged between Ribbonwood and Almont, the Club will subsidise the stake to the extent of 600 aovs. . The conditions suggested are that the match be run over three courses, one, two, and three miles, at the November Meeting, the Club to hold the stake, and impose such time limits a* it deems fit. So far neither of the horses' owner* have been communicated with, but there aeema a good chance of the match being arranged. Speaking at the luncheon at the Wellington Race Meeting on Saturday, his Excellency, replying to the President's toast, said he was not a racing man when he came to the colony, and did not .think' he would ever becomo one. but he had been induced to go out to the Hutt, and lad learned to attend meeting*, not as a duty, but for the pure enjoyment it afforded him.
