The Press Association regrets to find that a mess-age was sent out from Wellington this week, referring to a question of costs, in which Mr Jellicoe was ct.netriwd, which places him in a falsa? position. The management was not aware of the telegram Ining si-nt. or of its n:itun\ and expresses regret that a message should have lxen circulated of a character to give offence to Mr Jellicoe. A telegram was sent from Greymouth on March 22nd, containing quotation from a pvtiti'.>:i width it. was alleged was to be forwarded lo the Government, protesting agiiiiict the loan poll at Hokitika. .Statements weie made therein rcilecting on tli-..« Town Cierk of Hokitika. which it has been .shewn in t.he local Court were quite unjustilicd, a::d sliould not have been circulated.
