AMERICAN CONTRACT LAW.
(SPECIAL TO "THE PBESS.") WELLINGTON, November 24. Just before the House of Representatives rose this morning, Mr A. L. D. Fraser asked whether the Government waa aware that a New Zealander had been prohibited from landing at San Francisco. Tho Premier said the matter had not escaped the attention of the Government. The United States had carried out their law against New Zealand. He had nothing to say about that, but he was sure the matter liad received the attention of the Imperial authorities. The incident brought vividly home to New Zealand what the position is, and it strengthened what had been done in respect to coastwise trade and a preferential tariff. Mr Fraser: "What about the San Francisco service'r"
The Premier added that in other respects he hoped the course taken by New Zealand would result in the removal of disabilities under which we are placed at the present time.
