NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
A notification as to special bank holidays appears in this issue. An extra express train to relieve the ordinary express of intermediate traffic will run from Timaru to Christchurch on November sth, and Oamaru to Christchurch on November 6th, arriving in Christchurch at 7.45 p.m. An entertainment in aid of the funds of the Children's Aid Society will take place in the Colosseum on Saturday, November 14th. Over two hundred performers will take part. The hall has been given to the Society for the occasion by the Scottish Society of New Zealand, the officers of which" will assist at the entertainment. The Governor has consented to give his patronage.
