BOROUGH COUNCILS.

LYTTELTON. The Lvttelton Borough Council met last night. Leave of absence was granted Cr. Brown. The Railway Department will be asked to repair the siding at the pumping station. The Estates Committee reported that, the cost of a band rotunda was estimated at about £3OO. The Committee was granted an extension of time to find a suitable place for the rotunda. The Finance Committee reported the receipts as £402 5s 3d. and recommended for payment accounts amounting to £62 14s 3d. The accounts now stand as follows: District fund account, cr.. £1296 18* Id; drainage loan account, cr., £941 14s lOd; temporary loans account, cr.. £600: gasworks loan account, dr.. £ll6B Is Bd. Th» report was adopted. Cr. Webb reported that the new retort* for the gasworks would arrive in about fix week.':. The tender of Messrs Hollis and Brown, at £SO. for constructing a shelter shed at Corsair Bay, was accepted. Cr. Garrard called attention to the new Harbour Board Bill, and urged that the Council should ktep alive to what was about ro be done. Cr. Webb complained that the mud nowdredged from the inner harbour was deposited in Camp Bay and drifted back, so that the water was shoaling, and large steamers would soon be unable to come in. Tl>3 people of Lytulton were vital!-,- interested in this question, and should watch the alterations in the constitution of the Board, so that the people of Lvttelton should be properly represented. A special committee, consisting of Crs. Webb. Brown, and the Mayor, was appointed to confer with the member for the district. and watch over the interests of Lyttelton in conueuion with this matter.
