DEPARTURE OF "THE MORNING."

CATTLE DROVING. HAWKE'S BAY SHOW. '•THE WEEKLY PRESS." The departure of the Antarctic relief ship Morning is illustrated very fully in this week's "Weekly Press," and forms a striking centre opening. An equally striking subject is that which occupies the first opening, viz.. Cattle Droving in Xew Zealand, in which is seen a large mob of cattle (225) travelling on the road and at their mid-day halt. The opening of the bowling season in Wellington gives scope for another series of illustrations, as does the annual sports meeting of the Spreydou Harriers. The inspection of the North Canterbury Mounted Rifles by Col. Porter shows the" work chine by our mounted volunteers, while the fine picture ot the Hawke's Bay Show gives an excellent idea of this popular gathering. The special supplement this week contains excellent portraits of Messrs R. McXab, Wi Pcre, J. Vile, A- E. Harding, and W. T. Wood, M.H.R.'s. In the Farmer will be found editorial articles on New Zealand meat in England, the Farmers' Union, and the show season. The prospects of the Xew Zeuland Cup Meeting are fully discussed in the "Referee,'' r.nd the racing during the Birthday holidays in various parts of New Zealand is fullv referred to. Articles on the apprenticeship of jockeys, the totalisator in Australia, an English view of the totalisator, and amateur and cash cycling are included in the contents of this week's issue. Mr P. F. Warner's series of letters on English cricket is continued, the arrival of the English team in Australia, and the progress of the summer game in Xew Zealand receive attention. In all other departments the "Referee" contains the latest information and chatty gossip on current events.
