The lnuncipal elections to-day caused raj little excitement, though the poll was fairly large. Messre Lascelles, C. H. Edward*, McGrath, Thomson, Cohen, Eagleton, Wilson, Crauby, and Spence were elected. The Hastings Borough election resulted in the return of Messrs Maddieon, Roach, W. H. Smith, Thompson, Scanneli, BrauJT--wait©, Beecroft, Ebbet, and George. OAMARU, April 29. Mr J. M. Brown was elected mayor by a substantial majority over Mr Hllliker. The poll -was the heaviest on record. HOKITIKA, April 29. Tho Borougb Council election created the keeiM*b excitement for many year*. Seven of tbe old councillors -were .returned.
