AMBERLEY.
There was a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the householders at Amberley. The report referred to the fact that the first district High School in North Canterbury kid been established at Amberley duing the past year. There was an attendance of eighteen, and a likelihood of an increase shortly. Connan, M.A.. had be-en appointed to tin chaige of this department, and a special vote of thanks was due to the headmaster, "Mr
Alley, for tlie trouble he had taken. The atte-ndance at the primary schools had in-crei-ttd from 119 to 138. Tho credit balance was £13 14s sd. Hearty votes of thanks to tlie teaching stuff and the old Committee were pai<ved.
The following Committee wa> elected: — Messrs R. E. 'Wornall (chairman), E. A. Rodger*. D. Brown, T. R.-tallick. J. McLean, R. Stevenson, and F. H. Watson.
