RANGIORA.
The annual meeting of Rangiora householders was attended by about thirty persons. Mr J. Marshall pi e >ie:c-d " Tlie annual report of the Committee was of a satisfactory character. Tlie balancesheet showed that £864 12s had been expended in salaries, and £99 14s lid in incidentals; leaving a credit balance of £9 17s 2d.
A vote w thanks was passed to tlie Government for the first instalment of free •secondary education in the admission of seventn standard pupils to the High School. Regret was expressed that the youths of the town were not taking advantage of the technical classes, and a suggestion w-as made that manual instruction should be added to make the classes more attractive. The retiring Committee and the teaching staff were thanked for their service*. The election resulted as follows:—Messrs C. I. Jennings, H. Bovd. J. Mainhall C W. Bell, Rev. F. P. Fetidail. J. San.-on' W Foster, R. Ball, -and J. 0. Jtvding. At a meeting of the Committee Mr Marshall was elected chairman and treasurer, and Mr J. Wilson.was appointed secretary.
