Mr W. T. Foster occupied the chair at the annual meeting of householders in the Lyttelton School 'District, There was an attendance of eighteen. The Committee, in its annual report, drew attention to the low average attenclance. The number on the roll was 503. and the average attendance 422, ag-iin*t 501 and 427 for tlie preceding years. The Inspector's report, was very satisfactory, and the whole of the pupK teachers had parsed the nectssaiy examinations. Tho balance to cn-dit 'at the end of the year was £12 ls 3d, against £34 6s 2d at the end of the previous year. This was owing to the insufficient grant for incidental expenses. The Committee strongly urged parents to regularly send their children to the school.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the headmaster, Mr E. V. Just and staff. The following were elected members of the Committee for the ensuing year:—Rev. A. H. Tread well, Messrs W. Brown, W. Radcliffe, J. T. Brice, W. G. Shepheard, C. H. Agar, W. T. Foster, J. L. Carreil, and G. Laurenson, M.H.R.

A vote of thanks wi'_ passed to the retiring chairman, secretary, and Committee. The Committee subsequently elected the Rev. A. H. Tread well as chairman, and Mr M. Weastell as secretary.
