SAMOAN LAND TROUBLE.

AUCKLAND, April 18, The U.S. gunboat has arrived from Samoa. - Her commander .explains the Tutuila- land .trouble thus:—(-ommander Tillcy enacted a, law preventing the natives of Tutuila selling their land, but the Americans . gold theirs. This Act does not apply to native* of tho Grerman Island, Upolu, wio *r*\ owners, of land in Tutulia, and ._**' tivea resident in Tutuila claimed the ftapne pr.ivilege. This being disallowed caused the trouble, and the threat of murder mentioned in the. New York cable message. The threat waa not cirried into effect, and no further developments have occurred. Th* situation is peaceful. Tlieiv in no frictionbetween tho Germans and Americana, and" tho question will be settled by'the Court,
