Deakin, Attorney-General, has received no despatch from -the Pacific Cable Board with reference to the estimated deficiency of £95,000 on the year's working. He applied for monthly statements of revenue in order to obtain a definite gauge. THE EDWARD LLOYD CONCERT CO. It is announced that Mr Edward Lloyd's Concert Co. has abandoned its visit to New Zealand. Owing to tlie flattering reception it received in Melbourne, it decided to return there after the Sydney season. MISSING GIRLS. ADELAIDE, April 18. Miss Myers and Misses Livingstone (2), who went fishing at Elliston, are missing. The indications are that they were washed off the rocks. THE AUBURN TRAGEDY. ' (Received April 19th, 5.22 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 19. Woolford, the witness in tlie. Auburn murder case, who has been arrested on a charge of breaking and entering tho Auburn Hotel on tlie night of the murder, has been committed for trial, under heavy bail. THE NAVAL BOATRACE. The Royal Arthur's boat crew yesterday beat the Naval Brigade's easily. The latter crew were outc_a£|sed. They led for the first half-mile, when the Royal Arthur's men went to tho front, and held their opponents as they liked, winning by ten lengths. ACCIDENT TO STR GEORGE TURNER. Sir George Turner, the Federal Treasurer, was accidentally pushed into the liarbour yesterday while boarding a ferry boat. A deckhand threw 'him a plank, but this struck him, and when rescued he was found to be suffering from bruises as well as shock. The doctor to-day states that at least one of Sir George Turners ribs is broken. The injuries, though not serious, are very painful. Sir George had just handed Lady Turner aboard when the accident happened.
