SUICIDE AT MASTERTON.
(press association teli^ra--.) MASTERTOX, April 19. Charles DuVnin, aged alwut forty, committed suicide at the Central Hotel early thts morning by drinking prussie acid. The deceased recently arrived from Queensland, looking for employment. At the inquest a verdict of suicide was returned.
A young man named G. Lewis, from Cherlsey, was admitted to the Ashburton hospital on Friday, to undergo an operation, which was performeel in tho afternoon. The unfortunate man succumbed iiSlhe evening. Frederick Camp, a stoker on the Morning, while going along the breastwork at Lyttelton late on Saturday night, trippeet and fell into the water. Fcr some time he swam about till seen by one of the night watchmen, who threw him a rope, and enabled him to get ashore.
